One of my favorite student services offered by Rutgers University is Makerspace! Whether you need to make a gift, design items for a sorority, or work on a class assignment, Rutgers Makerspace has plenty of opportunities available to allow you to tap into your creativity.

There are two locations—one on the Livingston campus, across the street from the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Visual Arts building, and one on College Avenue campus, in the Honors College. My experience has been only with the Livingston facilities. The makerspace offers an abundance of machines that are free to use including a laser printer, 3D printers, a woodshop, graphic cutters, and a heat press. They also sell the appropriate materials needed for these machines at student-friendly prices.

Given the vast materials offered and tools available, the makerspace offers a convenient option to creatively complete school assignments, especially if you are studying design, engineering, and/or drama. I have taken advantage of their heat press to print shirt designs for my sorority. All organizations and students can use this accessible and price-friendly service for classes and personal use.
