Learning from Classroom Instruction
- Engage with weekly pre-lecture activities before attending lecture.
- Use videos to preview concepts and quizzes to test knowledge.
- Complete the ExpertTA Tutorial, and keep notes on the areas which need improvement.
- Take notes in class with an emphasis on concepts and formulas.
- Review lecture notes before doing weekly homework assignments.
- Collaborate actively, ask questions, and engage in recitation sessions but do NOT split up the worksheet.
- Complete challenge questions once you are comfortable with regular concepts.
Learning for and from Assignments
- Complete pre-lecture activities
- Avoid completing assignments last minute. Spread them out.
- Complete corresponding quizzes
- To learn, you will build upon previously presented concepts as you go through the semester.
- If you have questions, you can use the discussion board or reach out to the lecturer, TA, or LA.
- Attempt completion of homework before attending recitation session. At the session, obtain clarification and adjust understanding for incorrect answers.
- Use ExpertTA for feedback to help understand problems.
- It is important to learn how and when to use formulas (on the formula sheet) and their conceptual relationships.
Preparing and Studying for Exams
- Review lecture notes and polling questions
- Attend office hours and review sessions (in-person, Zoom, TA and/or LA sessions)
- Redo homework problems, especially those you had difficulty with.
- Practice recitation questions by yourself.
- Use exam preparation modules and mini-exams to enhance concept understanding.
- Teach topics to someone else. It’s a good way for you to learn content collaboratively with your peers!
- Review recitation packets
